American Hockey League President David Andrews has announced the winners of the league’s annual Team Business Services awards. These awards were presented on Wednesday July 5, during the AHL Board of Governors’ Annual Meeting at Hilton Head Island, S.C.

The Charlotte Checkers were presented with the award for most Unique Sponsorship Package for the HomeTrust “Vault” at Bojangles’ Coliseum. As part of that promotion, the team added branding to the steel Zamboni door in the building, which resembled a bank vault, and held trivia contests and other games that resulted in fans “opening the vault” to receive prizes from the Checkers and HomeTrust Bank.

We love being a part of the Checkers community, not only because they bring a family-friendly sports experience to one of our local markets, but they do so much good in the community through the Checkers Foundation.”
